Oh yes, no elevators, so we did have to walk our bags up two flights of stairs, but we travel light, so that was no problem (they did offer to help us with our bags). The bar drinks were free and we did find the alcohol in them on the light side so on occasion we would ask for a double, but I enjoy the refreshing flavors of the tropical drinks without spirits, so I was fine with the light alcohol content. If you want a relatively cheap trip, love to drink and eat lots and enjoy the sun and the sea, then go there and you should have a wonderful time. Very mixed clientel (young families, older families, couples, seniors and 20-something hard partiers). Even our 20, 17 and 14 year olds found it too much, and they are no prudes.14 days we had an amazing time staying at Rui Santa Fe Oceanview great value$$$$. The buildings amplify noise when people are going to and from their rooms, so its not the best experience if you expect to get a good nights sleep. Got moved to building 3 after approaching front desk. Jan2011 stayed at the Palace for a 1 week stay which gave us full access to the Santa Fe so we visited. The Santa Fe is still as pretty, maintained to a very high standard of cleanliness, abundance of food/drink options & great location. My complaint is with the people who were staying there. From our arrival the staff were very friendly to us, and it was nice to be able to chat to the managers who were also very helpful. Heard several other people complaining about noise and late night partying. They were few choices to keep two rooms together and allowed us to go see the available rooms before moving.
We were worried about eating out during the holiday weekend and were pleased beyond any of our hopes.Give them 50 pesos and they will then leave you alone. Entertainment OK (not paying to watch other guests karoake or be Miss Riu as the main entertainment)Rooms were about a North American 3 star (e.g Holiday Inn express). Not sure if we will ever go back to Cabo or the Riu Santa Fe as it was a good time, but we like places like Playa Del Carmen and Maui better. Hotel rooms, grounds and common areas were very clean. No drink or food service comes by when at the pool or beach. We had to move rooms from building 4 after first night of constant noise and partying of other guests in the halls and outside. It was a decent time doing that, but be prepared when you embark from your boat onto the beach for waiting young Mexicans to help you ashore, then DEMAND a tip for their troubles. Most times we enjoyed tipping in Cabo, but these guys were blatant in their requests to get paid.
